Welcome!

Junk Chick Designs Is a company that is built by salvaged items.  I the artist, Cheryl has been building since 1998.  It all started with painting landscapes on furniture that I found.  From that point on it grew into a business by taking old windows and turning them into glass door cabinets.  The business evolved into making all types of furniture from bathroom vanities to farm tables.  I expanded by selling to stores in the Bergen County area and NJ Shore area.  Which then turned into building furniture for a Country Living magazine photo shoots and now going to be a featured artist in the July 2011 Isssue of This Old House magazine. The picture above is an editor and photographer from This Old House magazine taking photos at my workshop.

There is something very unique that is created by using salavaged material when creating a piece of furniture.  It gives the piece a special feeling by making it one of a kind.  Knowing that someone can not go and buy the same item at another store is rewarding.  The most wonderful thing is when you take something with a story behind it such as lumber from a house that has been in the family and recreate it into their dining room set.  There is something personal in every piece that is built. Each piece that is built is treated like a piece of art that will be a functional heirloom that can be displayed in the home.
